Standard Package Items | Optional Add-ons to Standard Pkg |
Typical Background Check Steps
- TruView SSN Trace - determines whether an In-state or Out-of-State check is needed.
- Confirms candidate info, including aliases and address history.
- It will highlight/recommend checks to be run based on results.
- If candidate has lived both in and outside of WI within the past 7 years:
- Select Standard Package and choose optional items if needed.
- Defer to agency policies to determine whether In-State checks thru DOJ WORCS are required (e.g., Caregiver Check).
- If candidate has only WI records within the past 7 years, run an In-State check thru DOJ only.
General Recommendations:
- The Standard Package includes the Global Watch List which is different from an International Check. If flagged, follow agency process to determine next steps.
- International Check is an optional add-on apart from the Standard package. Typically, this is not needed; these tend to be unreliable and can take much longer to process.
- Optional Items may be added to the Standard Package at additional cost.
- Professional Licensure – recommend using DSPS for WI check, if OOS then may use TruView.
- Education – recommend asking candidates to provide official transcripts if required.
- Use of TruView's Adverse Action process is recommended to comply with FCRA requirements. The process was reviewed and approved by DOA Legal.
